Simply Be was launched in 1999 as a catalogue: fast-forward to 2019, and it has abandoned its traditional catalogue in favour of more environmentally-friendly and modern methods. Now, you can peruse Simply Be online or in their app, as well as in selected stores across the UK.
How Does It Work?
To start shopping at Simply Be, you must first open an account. You can request either a cash-only account (where you’ll pay for you items in full, upfront) or spread the cost with a Fashion First credit account.
With a personal credit account, you’ll be sent a statement every 28 days and will have to make (at least) a minimum payment towards the cost of the goods you’ve purchased.
Once you’ve opened the account, you can browse and purchase Simply Be clothing online or in the app.
You will be told your credit limit when your Fashion First credit account is registered. Your credit limit is based on your individual circumstances, therefore will vary from person to person.
The interest rate on a Fashion First credit account is 24.9% representative APR variable. Again, the actual rate you will be offered is personal to you and dependent on your own creditworthiness and financial circumstances. You will pay more for your items if you choose to pay for them in instalments.

How To Apply?
You can apply for an account online or on the Simply Be app. You’ll be asked to provide your details – title, name, D.O.B., email address, phone number, and address (for the last 3 years if you’re applying for a credit account), and choose a password.
You’ll then be presented with the terms and conditions of the account. If you are opening a Fashion First credit account, Simply Be will perform a credit check by supplying your personal details to credit reference agencies (CRAs) – this is to assess your creditworthiness.
This credit search will leave a search footprint on your credit file which will be visible to other lenders.
Understanding Your Statement
Your Simply Be statement is straightforward: it’ll show you:
- What’s been sent to you
- What you’ve returned
- What you’ve paid
- Your remaining balance
- Minimum payment required
Simply Be statements are paperless, but you can request a postal statement in your account preferences. Statements are sent every 28 days.
The minimum payment on your account will be 4% of the total cash price of the goods/services you’ve purchased or £5 (whichever is higher). If you owe less than £5, you will be expected to pay the balance in full.
How To Pay
You can pay for your purchases in a number of ways:
Debit or credit card – on the website, app or by phone. Simply Be’s payment line is open 24/7 but calls cost 13p a minute plus your phone provider’s access charge.
Bank – either by bank transfer using Simply Be’s account number and sort code, with your customer number as your reference (found on your account statement) or in-branch, using your payment slip as a giro credit form.
Direct Debit – you can set up a Direct Debit in the ‘My Account’ section of the Simply Be website or email for a Direct Debit instruction form. Payments will be taken every 28 days.
Payzone and Post Office – pay using your statement and the barcode above the payment slip in a Payzone shop or Post Office. Fees for payment by Electronic Post Office are 40p and fees for payments by Payzone are 31p.
Postal order and cheque – pay by postal order or cheque, with your customer number on the reverse as a reference and send by post with your completed payment slip.

If you need to return an item, you can do so within 28 days. You can return your parcel in a number of ways with your pre-paid address label:
Royal Mail – return your parcel at a Post Office. You’ll need your advice note.
UK ParcelShop – take your parcel to your nearest ParcelShop location. There’s a pre-paid address label on your advice note.
Hermes collection – you can easily manage returns online or on the Simply Be app – just go to ‘My account’ then ‘arrange a return’ to organise a Hermes collection within 2 working days.
InPost Parcel Lockers – print your returns label on the InPost website and return your parcel to your nearest InPost Parcel locker.

What Is Representative APR?
Annual Percentage Rate (APR) is a standardised way for lenders to show the annual cost of borrowing money. It includes the interest rate and other charges you have to pay (for example any arrangement fee).

Can I increase my credit limit?
You can not request an increase in your credit limit. Simply Be will review your credit limit on a monthly basis and you will be notified if it increases.
What if I miss a payment?
You’ll be charged a £12 administration fee if you miss a payment.
What is the Perks loyalty programme?
You can sign up to Simply Be Perks once you’ve opened an account. It’s a free loyalty programme which offers rewards, special offers and competitions. The level of perk varies month by month, but by signing up you could receive freebies, discount codes, and prize draw entries.
Can I place an order above my credit limit?
Yes, you can, but if you place an order above your credit limit, you will be asked to pay the excess by credit or debit card.
